???Мел./Mel., son of Як/Jakiv ( Jakiv equivalent to English Jacob), Czyzhskij was an Orthodox deacon at the Church of the Ascension in Kyiv.

Thanks Hannia; it is one more Cyzhskij who is serving the Orthodox church. I have about 4 or 5 of them now. I will return to the Tarnogorski/Czyzski thread to update the forum on my findings and questions.

Please Hannia put a new thread for these Kazakhstan people, you understand and can explain the topic better that me.

I leave this thread open with one specific question; can Rubanivka be the same as Ruban?

Tomorrow I will call village mayor and ask is the Czyzhskij family ever lived in Rubanka. That should answer the question.

There are two Chizhski in the list you offered - probably brothers - Mel.Yak and Fed. Yak. - Melentiy and Fedor?

Unfortunately you will have to wait another week. I spoke to the Secretary of the Florianivka (Rubanka belongs to this cluster) Village Administration (380-4342-30442). Larissa says she is not familiar w/the surname, but she will call to Rubanka and see if there is anyone there that might be able to remember families w/that surname. She was very pleasant and wanted very much to help. The villages in this area lost many in the late 30's/40's and much of the archival info was destroyed during WW2. She asked that I ring her next Monday.

Time in New York City is 8:48AM.

I also just called selo Rubanka > Malynskij raion > Zhytomirska oblast. Village cluster Ivanivka. It abuts Borodyaskij and Ivankovskij raions of Kyivska oblast. Was told there are 30 people still living in Rubanka, but none were/are Czyzhskij.
