Seeking info on Navidiski or Navidzlo
I am looking for any info on the Navid family. It is said that their full last name is either Navidiski or Navidzlo. From what I have found is that Annie and Mike Navid imigrated from Galicia in 1904 and ended up in Barndon Manitobo. Any information would be greatful.
Thanks Ronalee |

Welcome Ronalee.
Annie and Mike Navid = Anna & Myhajlo Navid/Nawid??? We are lucky to have Ruth (zarjacks), your fellow Canadian and member here, who is wonderful at digging up documentation. She'll be along shortly and will give us a better read on where in Galicia your Immigrant/Ancestors originated. ___________________________________ The First Immigration (1891-1914) Although eighty percent of the Ukraine’s land was part of the Russian empire, most Ukrainians that landed on Canada’s shores during this period were from the western portion, then under Austrian rule. The first immigration consisted almost entirely of land-hungry peasants from the provinces of Galicia and Bukovina. Denied any opportunities to improve their lot in their homeland, they were attracted to Canada by its policy of granting virtually free lands or "homesteads" to settlers. _____________________________________________________________________________________ First Wave of Ukrainian Immigration to Canada, 1891-1914 The First Emigration From Pre-Carpathian Ukraine First Wave of Ukrainian Immigration to Canada, 1891-1914

Navid
Ronnie,
I'm not having much luck on the first attempt. Did this family come direcctly to Canada (Brandon) in 1904 or did they go to the US and later to Canada? What religion did they practice? did they homestead in Manitoba? any other details you might have could facilitate a search. Ruth |

Navid
Hi Ruth,
Unfortunately I have very little info. I came across their name in a 1906 cencus for Brandon when searching for the last name Navid. My husbands grandfather is the eldest son of this family. From what I can gather thier last name was not very common. Any help would be much appreciated Ronalee |

I have not had any luck on ancestry.com with any of the spellings. But I Googled and came up with 1 hit for John Navidzylo: HistoryFrame.html He is mentioned as a contibutor to the church in Hubbard, Saskatchewan and the name "Wawruck" may be a variant of your "Wawiuch" Ruth |
