Hawryluk

Hi,
I am a new member also researching the name Hawryluk. The information I have is Johann Hawryluk immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1912 at age 24. His brother Mikolaj immigrated in 1907 at age 26. The towns listed are Kluynci or klwyuci or krywxuci or kluryuci. Also on Mikolaj's record Kewince is listed.

They identified themselves as Ruthenian and from Galicia. They are also Orthodox.

Hannia thinks the town is Kluwince present day Klovyntsi, Husyatn,Ternopil, Ukraine.
Can anyone assist me in obtaining more information( Records, pictures)?

Hannia are you sure Klovyntsi is the right placei? I can see no Havryliuks in this area

Hi,
I am a little confused. On the ship's manifest the towns look like they start with a K, then there are some undecipherable letters and a "uci" or "nci" at the end. On Mikolaj's record it definitely looks like Kewince. The only other information I know is that they identified themselves as Ruthenians and did not seem to consider themselves Russian or Polish. They considered themselves Ukrainian and orthodox Catholic. Why are you suggesting Peremyliv and Soroka? Are there Hawryluks there?

Let me add that after further research I am not sure if they were Orthodox, Byzantine , or Greek Catholic. Future generations have become Roman Catholic.
