Arrow Korolyk/zawada/karanko/spodaryk ancestors of

Searching for ancestors from Starzawa: Decendants of Eliae Korolyk and Annae Zawada.
known children of Eliae & Annae are Irena (Iryna) Korolyk who married Joannes Ivan) Karanko and had a second husband Hryhorij Spodaryk.

My grandmother Maria Karanko is a decendant of Irena Korolyk

Irena's sister, Tekla Korolyk married Ivan Jachimec.

Anyone in Starzawa familiar with cemetery gravestones etc.

Smile Spodaryk

Kenappat,
Don't know if this is of any use to you but my paternal grandmother's surname was Spodaryk and she was from Kasperivtsi, Galicia near Zalishchyky (sp.?).
Her name: Hannia Spodaryk Olynchuk (1st husband) Zarecka (2nd husband) b. @ 1880 d. 1947
known brother: Dmytro b. @ 1882 d. ?
father Ivan Spodaryk: b. @ 1860 d. ? m. Marya Humeniuk

I have not done further research as Kasperivtsi records not available on LDS yet. I know when I was there I met a cousin of Dad's whose name was Hrych whick I believe is short for Hryhori.

spodaryk

The research I've done re: my family is that Aleksi Spodaryk was the father of Hryhorij (Gregorius) Spodaryk...he married Irena (Iryna) Korolyk. The children of Gregorius & Irena were Jevdokia 1868 and Ivan 1870....any connection???

My great-grandfather was Dmytro Spodaryk (b. October 1883, d. 1962)
Grandfather, Joseph Spodaryk (b. 1911, d. 1969)
Father, Joseph Spodaryk (b. 1942)
I'm Steve (Stephen) Spodaryk (b. 1966)

Dmytro emigrated sometime prior to 1910, possibly through Canada. His wife (Anna Petiak) and children (Adolph, Olga, Branislaw) came through Ellis Island in 1910. The city of orgin is listed as Towmacz, Austria (Ukraine).

They settled in Rochester, NY and that is where we were born/raised. Several children were born in the US, including Joseph, Michael and Mary. (I hope I'm not forgetting a great-aunt or uncle, I'm doing this from memory.)

So, it appears some of us may be distant relatives...
I'll try and post more information when I speak to my father. He may have some more details from his aunt who is still alive.

Would appreciate comparing notes and sharing information.
My father is starting to do some research, but mostly on his mother's side so far.

Steve

Red face Spodaryk family history

Hello again Steve. Took a fast look at some of my records. Most of my records are from the Village of Starzawa / Mosciska. They are all Ruthenian. In studying those records it is noticed that many of the people married into one family or another...so everyone is "connected". When I saw the name Dmytro in your post I remembered an article I have about Pauline & Dmytro Szybunka (same as Szybunko-spelled variously.
This Dmytro was born in 1896. I believe his wife was Pauline Pich. (Article from Canada) Anyway, my grandmother Maria Karanko her mother was Iryna Korolyk (maiden name) Iryna's first husband was Gregorius Spodaryk, 2nd husband a Karanko. Many of the Spodaryks went to Canada as well as Jersey City, N.J. By the way, they were Greek Catholic....your Szybunko manifest stated "Hebrew" was that an error.? I saw an article in an old newspaper re: a Stephen Shubunka, age 30 art. dated 2-23-1936, that he died....(have article) & had a fiancee Elizabeth Volochin. died in New York. I am seeking the records of my grandfather Jozef Piatak and have hit a brick wall. I noticed the spelling you listed of Anna Petiak. ...could be one of the many reasons why I cannot locate his records from the Ukraine. Basically what I have done was list & try to connect as many "villagers" as I could. It takes a long time. Again, most of the records I have are from Starzawa.....do not know if Towmacz was a neighboring village.....therefore, relations??
Regards, Pat.
