Sielski and Rumnianski surnames

I may be venturing on an impossible journey in attempting to find info about my maternal grandparents as I have very limited information.
My grandparents were Nicolas (Nykola) Sielski b. May 1873 and Francisca Rumnianski b. Oct 1878 and were married in Galicia in 1897. A birth record of one of their children indicates they were both born in East Galicia. My grandmother apparently spoke of the place Borshchiv, Ukraine. Nicolas and Francisca immigrated to Canada in 1902 with 3 children, John, Joseph and Antonia (Tina) and settled in Vonda, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have found information on other Sielski's (Sielskyj) that were born at the parish of Wysiczka, Village of Werchniakiwci, Borshchiw, Ukraine but cannot link them yet to my grandfather. This is all I know at this time.

If I do not know the parish where married is it impossible to find record and would a marriage record in 1897 still exist?

Any guess on where they would have boarded a ship to go to Canada?

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Linda.

So far this is all I can find.

Passenger list of the S.S.Armenia, exit port Hamburg, arriving in Boulogne, Halifax May 31, 1902. Mikolaj and Franceska with Jan (John) age 4, Josef age 3, and Antonia 6 mos. Manifest shows them hailing from Borsczow.

I have also found 3-4 other Mykolaj Sielski. Dates on these are completely off. Looks to me like there were loads of Sielski immigrating to Canada.

Hannia - thank you so very much - that certainly appears to be them on the SS Armenia. Is Borscow the same as Borshchiv?

Yes there appears to be another Nick Sielski who immigrated in 1922 and Andrew and Fred in 1909 and Peter in 1913 who all settled in Sask close to my grandparents but cant tie them to my line just yet.

"haling" from Borscow.... does that mean "forcing" them to leave?

I do not know that it is the same. The Lenius' Gazetteer shows three.

Borsczczow > district center in Tarnopil region. Population 12,000 @turn of last century.

The other two were/are villages.

Borszczow > Sniatyn > Ivano-Frankivska region
Borszow > Przemyslyany > Lviv region

To hale from means to come from. Were they forced to leave in 1902?

Did the family consider itself Polish or Ruthenian/Ukrainian?

No they were not forced to leave. I didnt know what haling meant and looked up and said "forced"

The family considered themselves Ukrainian.

I think Hannia meant the verb "to hail (from)" meaning to be a native of

Linda, I do mean HAIL FROM which means COME FROM. There are several meanings, but that does not help me locate your surnames in Ukraine today.

Irene, Sielski and Rumnianski ? What do you think? I have tried variant spellings in Ukrainian, but w/o any success.
