New Member - Need Help??
Hi,
I'm new on this website and need some help. I'm looking to find my father's cousin in Niwra, Ukraine. He is presently there today (2010). My father has not seen him and would like to meet with him this year. My father will be going there this September. My father was born in Novosilka but moved with the family to Tumachov, Poland directly after his birth. Then my father imigrated to Canada. We are in Canada now and would like to find my father's cousin. He is alive but we do not have his contact information such as phone number or address. I do not know where to start looking for this kind of information? Also, due to my financial status (loss of work), I cannot afford to spend a large amount of money to find him. My father's cousins name is Nick Rostkowicz. This is his supposed name. It might be slightly different such as Nicholas and his last name might be Rostkovicz/Rostkovycz? We do not know. What I do know is that he only speaks Ukraine. My father speaks both Polish and english but not Ukraine. We will work on this so we can communicate once we find him. Can anyone help us with our situation? Thank you! |

As far as I could ascertain, there is a Mykola Rostkovycz, son of Anton, birth yr 1944, still residing in Nyvra. I see no telephone listing for him. Have you father write him a letter. Someone in the village probably knows Polish and can translate the letter. The price of a stamp is the cheapest and probably the best way to get this accomplished.

Thank you greatly Hannia!
I don't understand the address posted below your respnse. Is that your address? How do I send a letter to Mykola Rostkovycz? To give you more information from our geneaology here, my father's name is Joseph, son of Julian, brother of Anthony. I hope this helps a little? Once again, thank you! |

That is the address for Mykola (Western Ukrainian for given name Nicholas) Rostkovycz. Copy it to your envelope as is and include your return address in language of country of your current residence. Since you cannot afford to have the letter translated and expect him to find someone who knows Polish, a nice gesture might be to include an IRC (Intl Response Coupon) with your letter. He could use that to obtain free air mail postage, when responding to your letter. You can purchase one at your nearest large post ofc. Cost is nominal.
