Don't worry Dennis you are not the only one who has this problem starting out in genealogy.

The majority of Ukrainians who came to the U.S. or Canada left their home regions in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

PM me if you need any help.

Thank you for your encouraging words and insight.

His birthday was August 15 1885 with citizenship February 2, 1921. I've tried other surname spellings with no success. , but I will not give up.

Thanks

One of my sons told me just this weekend he was interested in our heritage too and wanted to help. So I have another allie here in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh. My family is from there as well.

It seems many ukrainian immigrants came there to work in the coal mines or steel mills of PA.

Slanyi > Croatia. (The vineyards in Croatia are gaining world popularity. The wines are fruity, but they are interesting.)

Thanks for your hard work. I spoke with my father, Paul, the one who's 4 in the 1930he census. The census info appears to be correct, but the immigration info is close but not sounding right. All of the Lapics headed for McKees Rocks upon arrival, or at least the ones who followed Mike. We can't be sure where Mike's initial destination was.

I've located a descendant of his brother's in the far west USA. I hope to compare notes with him.
