looking for relatives of Anton Marmus from Chernovitz
My grandfather Anton Marmus was from Chernovitz. He worked at the railstation, some sort of chief. His first wife (maybe her name was Irina) died. She was my mum's mother. My mother was born on August, 3,1911. I have a baptism certificate from an ortodox church. Her sisters names were Nadia and Vera Marmus. It was a period that the brazilian government made a lot of propaganda about the country and Anton Marmus decided to imigrate because, as I was told, he disliked to be under the romenian government. During the travel, on a ship, he discovered the real situation of the imigrants so he decided to leave the group and went to the city of San Paulo. He never got any news from his relatives in Chernovitz. I don't know if they stayed, immigrated,or moved to other towns of Ukraine. I've read there are a few people with the surname Marmus still leaving in Ukraine in different towns and also in Chernovitz. I would like to know what happened to my grandfather's family. I am able to understand and speak in russian, not fluent anyway. It's important to me to know something about them even if they are not interested in contact. Thak you anyway.

Hola Ana.
Can you please scan the metryka / birth certificate and send me as attachment? MITEHELP@AOL.COM ________________________________________________________________________________ It is very true, the Brasiian government had their recruiting agents in Germany right at the docks, promising emigrants anything and everything. Your search should not be difficult. There are approximately 150 + individuals with Marmus surname living in the Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Khmelnytska oblasts/regions today. Chernivtsi and the Zaleschyki area of Southern Ternopil region are frequently referred to as the Historical Region of Northern Bukovina, the land of beech trees. Once I see the birth certificate, I will provide you more information. Some photos of Chernivtsi. It is a beautiful and charming city. birth certificate
Hi Hannia. birth certificate is at my sister's home. She travelled abroad but as soon as she comes back I'll scan it. The Brazilian archives of immigration show the names and date of arrival. Nothing more. The 02 Marmus I found in Brazil have nothing to do with my family for they have french ancestors. The propaganda was made in Chernivitz because Anton Marmus never travelled anywhere before the immigration. I forgot to say that they arrived under romenian passport.
