I am in the United States, so I do not know...what is the correct way to address the envelope?

I am amazed to see so many Kurbala names! In my whole life I have never met a single person with this name! I thought I was all alone!

For my grandmother's maiden name, I will look through the papers again, but as I recall, I have only seen her name as "Milewa M. Kurbala."

Stop and take a real deep breath. This telephone list in the previous post is for encouragement and it's not going to disappear.

You will not be sending any letters out until we confirm the information that you have.

A traumatized child will frequently create its own reality for survival purposes.

Mama was in an orphanage that was attached to a DP Camp. How did she get there? South Austria is quite a ways from what is Serbia today. Is it possible that she was taken to Austria w/her mother? Was her mother an Ostarbeiter? After the war, they landed up in this DP Camp and her mother became ill and died and she was taken to the orphanage? That just makes more sense. I don't know if that is correct, but we have to document whatever it is.

I have already e-mailed Serhij in Dniepropetrovsk. He shares your Cossack heritage. I asked whether there might be some kind of Cossack Register? The Cossacks were and still are organized. You might be able to get a direct lead to Grandfather?

Serhij can probably explain some of the history here.

The all critical questions of where was mama born, were her parents married in Ukraine , and whatever else we will need to put this puzzle together, will hopefully be answered as well.

Most importantly, did you get your inquiries out to Bad Arolsen and re Orphanage?
