bbz,
The documentation that Ruth has kindly dug up for you, indicates that place of origin for Marya was Stupnica. From late 18th century to 1919 wies/village Stupnica was predominantly a Ruthenian (very likely Bojko???)/Ukrainian village with its own Greek Catholic Church. The filial Roman Catholic Church was in Dubliany. Sambor was both the POWIAT (administrative district/county) and the GMINA (judicial/tax district) > Historical Galicia Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The village was founded in 1430 and still exists w/population of 553. Today село Ступниця (selo/village Stupnytsia) is no longer in Sambir raion/district. It is in Drohobych > Lviv oblast/region > Western Ukraine, latest zip code 82123. During same timeframe above, wies/village Bronica (Mike's origin) was also predominantly Ruthenian/Ukrainian w/its own GC Church. The filial RC Church was in Dublyany. Drohobych was both the POWIAT and the GMINA. It was founded in 1600 and still exists today w/population of 900. Today село Брониця (selo/village Bronytsia) is still in Drohobych raion/district > Lvivska oblast/region > Western Ukraine, latest zip code is 82120. Please notice the zip codes of your ancestral villages. They were/are neighboring villages . You are lucky that this info was readily available. Before proceeding, I suggest that you first throughly explore following link. It is a very important resource for anyone who is researching their Halychanyn (Galician) heritage.
