ancestors in Lwow

Can anyone direct me as to websites and/or addresses where I can locate vital records of ancestors in Lwow, Khersonska, Ukraine. My grandma, Antonina was born there in 1923 and I am trying to compose a family tree and only know the names of her parents, as she emigrated her after WWII. Any help to trace further back would be appreciated.

the names of my great-grandparents are JAN LIWAK and MARIA JACHIMCZYK.

Lwow and Khersonska are two very different regions in Ukraine.

TODAY LVIV is in Western Ukraine and KHERSON is part of Eastern Ukraine.

Do you have any documents confirming exact place of birth?

If not , consider contacting the Bad Arolsen Archives. Germans kept excellent records of everyone that set foot there
during WW2. These archives will provide you w/Grandmother's exact experience in Germany and her exact place of birth. Inquiry by immediate family is available for free. All you need to provide is Grandmother's full name and any other spelling variants and her exact birth date. Your inquiry can be done by e-mail. I understand the archives have upgraded their svce and response can be received via e-mail as well. Response can take as mush as three months. That part has not changed.

Upon accessing site click HUMANITARIAN REQUESTS. Follow instructions.

PS> Once you have ascertained exact place of origin, please come back and we will help you locate the recessary records and possibly help you locate some distant cousins as well.

still reserching....

Hania,

information obtained from the site you gave me indicates my grandmother, Antonina Liwak, born Feb 15 1923 to Jan and Marianna nee Jachimczyk was born in Wojciechowice, Kielce, nationality: Polish, Roman Catholic; last known residence: Nowy Sambor

It seems that when i looked up Wojciechowice, Kielce it came up as two separate places now I am not sure what places to contact in Kielce or in Ukraine?

Excellent Karen, you now know exact place of birth for Grandmother Antonina. This research will need to be performed in what is Poland today.

She lived in Nowy Sambor (today Novij Sambir) during the Interwar Period (1919-1938), which was/is District Center Town in the Lviv (formerly Lwow) region of what is Western Ukraine.

Both places above were part of Austro-Hungarian Empire from late 18th century to 1919.

Chances are Antonina's father was in Polish Military before migrating to Nowy Sambor??? Google for KRESY POLES for explanation of Polonization of Eastern Galicia by Polish Military Veterans during Interwar Period.

I will look to see exactly where metrykal data can be found for Wojciechowice > Kielce powiat > SE POLAND.

BBL.
