SMOKEY LAKE AREA including PECAN
The large influx of immigrants around 1899 to the area included my Grandfather and Grandmother Stephan Ratsoy his wife and one child. That turned out to be 17 kids I believe after immigration. My mother was one Waslya (Violet) Ratsoy. The Ratsoy name of course was NOT spelled this way but RACOI and like most others came from the same geographical area the others did. The question really is are these people all Ukrainian or Polish, or Romanian, or real Austrians? Seems because of the political sphere of the time everybody had a Austrian passport and their origin was so stamped. Anybody have a clear picture of this. Thanks. |
