Dragosh family

Hi,

My name is Arno Calonius. I live with my family in Finland. My grandmother Elena Dragosh came to Finland around 1900 together with my grandfather, who is a Finn. We have not heard anything about Elena Dragosh family since then. Elena was born in Puhoi near Chisinau April 10th 1872. Her family had a big house in Bulboaca. Elena went to school also in Odessa around 1890 . Elena's father Constantin (son of Fiodor) Dragosh studied law at St Vladimir University (Kiev University) in 1868. Constantin became the judge of Bender district around 1870.
Last week I visited for the first time those districts. I was able to find the personal folder of Consantin Dragosh at Chisinau National Archives. I could read there that Constantin was married to Alexandra Sternfurst and all their children in age order including my grandmother Elena were as follows:
Alexandru 1865, Nicolae 1867, Zinovia 1869, Ecaterina 1870, Elena (grandmother) 1872, Larisa 1874, Cleopatra 1876, Mihail 1878, Liuba 1881.

You understand that we here in Finland are utmost keen on hearing any information about this family. Anybody heard or read about this family?

Hi,

my name is Roland. I am new here, and also looking for traces of my ancesters.

I am sorry, I don't have informations about your family, but I couldn't help noticing that Dragosh (written Dragoș) Elena, Constantin Constantin Alexandru, Nicolae, Ecaterina, Cleopatra and Mihail are all romanian names. (Constantin and Elena are very important saints in the Orthodox Church) So I would assume that your ancestry - at least in part - is of romanian origin...

I wish you good luck in finding your family.

With warm regards,

Roland

Thanks Roland for your response. You are very right. My grandmother's, Elena's father Constantin was born in Galatz. Later the family lived and spent their time in Chisinau area, Bender and Bulboaca as I mentioned in my previous thread. Good luck to you as well!!
