To IreneLviv - Re: Hujcze / Lviv
Hello Irene,
Hannia instructed me over to this site/forum from a post I made on the genforums at genealogy.com and said you may be able to assist me. I have been trying to track down a specific set for records for several years now. The records I seek are the Greek Catholic Church Marriage records from the former Galician villiage of Hujcze, Rawa Ruska, for the years 1909-1912. I am looking for the marriage record of my great grandparents Melania Klym and Michael Fediuk, between the years 1909-1912. I know it is in there, just not sure which day/year. The LDS only has films for marriage records only until 1868. Several people first told me I can find this record in the Zabuzanskich collection in the archives in Warsaw Poland. However, upon contacting them, they have informed me they only have registers from years: 1900-1905 and 1916-1938, and that the records I seek are at The Public Registers' Office in Lviv 23 Doroshenko str. As you can see I have been getting quite the run around and I need this record to go further back on my great grandfather Michael Fediuks side. I am willing to pay someone to go to the registers office and get a scan/photo/extract of the record I seek. Please help, or direct me to someone who can. Maybe these will be of help in locating proper marriage record: http://www.poppunk.com/baba_birth.jpg (Birth Record of Melania) http://www.poppunk.com/baba_passport.jpg (Passport of Melania) Many warm thanks in advance. - Steve

Hello Steve
Your documents are kept in Zhovkva RAGS - I have no contacts there. The Lviv Office in Doroshenko St only issues official vital documents. Official - and a very long - way to get them iis to contact Ukrainian consuate/embassy in yur area and file an application with them. Your application will finally reach Doroshenko St and an inquiry will be sent on to Zhovkva oiffce which will issue the required document and forward it to Lviv. I can check our Historical Archive - they might have received this book from Zhovkva. District RAGSs keep records during 70 yeard of the last record. |

Hey Irene,
Many thanks for your quick response. If you can check the Historical Archive that would be great! I pray they have it. Last time I tried to obtain a record through a consulate, it was a nightmare I don't want to have to re-visit. |

Hi Steve
You are lucky I have checked recently added files in Historical Archives to find three books for Hyiche: Marriage 1868-1918 72 pages Death 1870-1915 97 pages Birth after 1879 145 pages Which of them do you think worth studying? Arcive closes on 20 July until 1 September |

Wow great! The record I desperately seek is the marriage of Melania Klym to Michael Fediuk. It will be between the years 1909 and 1912.
Other than that, the only other record I would want (only if there is time and it is of no trouble) is the death record of Iwan (Joannes in Latin) Klym in approx 1895/1896. He wouldve been around 35 or 36 years old. |
