Koniuchy (ëÏÎÀÈÉ) > Kosivskij (Kosovo) raion/district > Ternopilska oblast/region is due west of Staromischyna,
on the other side of the region. 22 Kohut's listed as still residing in this village.

LDS has filmed some old GC records for this village, but cut off yr was 1860.

This link shows an old postcard of village and some detail re old church there. Pix in middle.

Kleschivna (ë̦ݦ×ÎÁ - closer transliteration into English would be Klischivna) > Rohatynskij (Rohatyn) raion/district > Ivano-Frankivska oblast/region.
11 Kohut's still living here. No Kryvytsky.

??? 11.5 miles south there is a selo/village called Koniushky (ëÏÎÀÛ˦ in Ukr) > also in Rohatyn district > Ivano-Frankivska region.

Koniuchy

Hi Hannia,
Thank you for taking the time to talk to me. I really enjoy looking at the pictues, just wish my Ukranian was better to be able to read it. My grandmothers cousin always told me that the name Kohut was very commen in Ukraine. I know she was writting letters to our family in a village somewhere until she passed away. Do you what document I could get that might have the birth villages on it? I did order my grandmothers Social Security application but haven't recieved it yet. Do you know if there are people that I could hire to read the films from LDS? If they aren't in English I wouldn't be able to read them. I've been trying to learn Ukranian for a couple years but finding it extremely difficult.
thank you!

The Cyrillic alphabet does make it difficult, but now if you decide to learn Greek, you will find it easier.
Additionally, if you ever decide to visit your ancestral home, you will have no trouble orienting yourself.

Greek Catholic Records are mostly in Latin, so you should have only a little difficulty recognizing the names.

Before tackling LDS make sure to thoroughly explore Bielawa's Halgal site. It will equip you w/all the info
you might need to conduct your research. Click below.

If you have further questions, feel free to come back and ask anytime. Best to use same thread.

Do you know how to people in the western part of Ukraine handle foreigners? My great aunt who was born there told me to never travel there and would never tell me who she was writing to all those years. She has passed away and no one knows where the letters are. I think that is very sad. I would like to travel there someday to see where my family came from. I know Ukraine is a beautiful country. I am now reading Honey and Ashes and it really got to me when she arrived in the village of Staromischyna.

Don't worry about the reception you will get. People are warm and friendly. Should you make a connection
to surviving family, they will welcome you w/ open arms. They will open their homes and hearts to you.
