Searching for Aleksandra Semyonovna/Chmilar
Hello
I am seeking information about Aleksandra Semyonovna who married a Jan(Ivan) Wladyka in Brody, Lvov Oblast sometime in the late 1910's or early 1920's. Ivan immigrated to Canada in 1925 and Aleksandra followed with three young children in Sept of 1926. I am interested in finding out Aleksandra's background. She may have had a step father with the last name of Chimlar. If you are able to connect the names to those of your own distant relatives, would you please email me at Cieanne@shaw.ca Thanks and good luck in your own searches. |

Nearby village to Brody
Hi! My husband's family is from the Brody area. They lived in a nearby village called Warszawka. There is a picture of some of the people in that village at the Kresy-Siberia Groups website:
Kresy-Siberia Virtual Museum It was posted by a cousin named Barb Kwietniowski, but it can be viewed under Stefan Wisniowski's pictures on the site, in the Gallery. Some names are listed of townspeople. I dont remember which. If you find any information on other Brody people, please let me know and I will do the same for you. I am looknig for a Vincent (Wincenty) Weber from Brody. He was supposedly a business owner - restaurant, bakery, or similar. I once found a business phone book for Brody on the internet, but when my hard drive crashed, I lost all my wonderful links. GOOD LUCK! Christine chrismkaz@aol.com PS See my post under this website for Brody and there were some good links given to me in there from Hannia and Forest! |

Cieanny, you previously mentioned that your relatives came from Beliavtsy - this is a very beautiul village and I took lots of pictures when I was there several years ago. Quite a number of Wladyka and Chmilar families live there. The whole village was once engaged in growing hop. Chmilar stands for 'hop-grower'.
Chrismkaz, they are so many Polish business books in digital libaries - they all include information about Brody. What years are you interested in? Last edited by IreneLviv; 15th March 2009 at 23:12. |

Brody Phone Numbers
Hi! Thanks IreneLviv, for input on phone numbers for Brody. I was looking to find our great grandfather, Vincent (Wincenty) Weber. He was supposedly a business owner in Brody in the 1920's and 1930's until deportation to Siberia began in the area. It was a restaurant, or bakery, or maybe even a chocolate shop. We have so many different accounts, but no paperwork to prove a thing. If I were to choose specific years, I would think anytime between 1921 or 1922 through 1939. If I had to choose one year, it would be 1922. THANKS! Christine chrismkaz@aol.com
