surname antoniuk & healer story

We in the family have been told of an Antoniuk ancestor who was a healer. The story goes she would go to the woods to select her remedy. Apparently she was sought out by many people. I believe she was from an area around Chernivtsi. Any ideas where a search of this kind might be done?
I also wonder what the name origin might be.

It just mean son of Anthony or Antoni The Byzantines came to that area and would give them surnames based on their first name. I think the Roman catholics did surnames by areas of domain and profession.

The name does not pertain to a specific profession. Just means son of Anthony or Antoni.

Joyce,

Antonij/Antoni/Anton has both a Greek & Latin root. It means PRICELESS
(original reference to FLOWER) in Greek and HIGHLY PRAISEWORTHY in Latin.

The name does show up in Kyivan Rus and in the Orthodox Calendar of Saints.

I couldn't find anything organized on Ukrainian faith-healers. In some parts
of the country, they were also referred to as White Crows.
