surname origin
I have been trying to find out what the origin of the name "Manchulenko" might be. It does not seem to be a very common name. I know my husbands ancestors arrived in Mytkov (sp?) a few generations ago, but that is all. The family story is that a Manchulenko woman of high regard arrived in that area with three sons. Wish we knew the rest

Hello Joyce,
Your surname, Manchulenko/íáîþõìåîëï , shows up in these villages: âåäòéë¶÷ã¶/Bedrykivtsi (there is one in Zalyschyky r--n > Ternopilska oblast and one in Horodotskij r--n in Khmelnytska oblast), þåòî¶÷ã¶/Chernivtsi, ÷¶ëîï/Vikno (there is one in Horodenka r--n> Ivano-Frankivsk - Prykarpathia area, there is another in Zastavskij r--n > Chernivtsi and the last for your consideration is the one in Husyatyn > Ternopilska oblast). íéôë¶÷ you know. ëïìïäò¶âëá/Kolodribka > Zalyschyky> Ternopil (lots of Cossacks stayed behind - Manchulenko could be Cossack surname???), íáíá·÷ã¶/Mamayivtsi > Kitsman > Chernivtsi (another one of those Cossack villages, probably named after Mamayivtsi Cossacks), and âáîéì¶÷/Banyliv > Vyzhnytskij r--n> Chernivtsi.
