State Archives in Poland: State Archives in Poland State Archives in Poland: State Archives in Poland ___________________________________________________________________________________ Records not in State Archives should be available @USC. Vital records in Poland are recorded in each town's Civil Records Office/ Urzad Stanu Cywilnego (abbr USC), and those records less than 100 yrs old are generally still kept there. USC's are typically located in the City Hall. After 100 years, the vital records registers are supposed to be transferred to one of the branches of the Polish State Archives. There are exceptions, typically when a register book contains records for more than one year. In such cases, the transfer is not legally required until the final year in the volume is more than 100 years old. |
