Andrew Tyrpak/Terpack born 1870 Andrzyowka Glacia Austria ( son of Michaelis) married Maria/mariae Holowacz born 1878 ( daughter of Andreas).Both died in Howell Township, New Jersey, USA.Andrew died in 1956Maraie /Maria died in 1929
Searching for both of their roots.Was Mariae married before her marriage to Andrew? Is it possible that Andrew's father Michaelis is the Michaelis born in 1816?

I take it this family settled in Passaic upon immigration???

Your ancestral Andrzejowka is one of two places. Today one
is in Ukraine, near Sokal and the other is in Nowy Sacz,
SE Poland.

Was the family ever referred to as Lemko/Rusyn?

What church did they attend?

Did they put a different language on each census record?

They are probably lemko/rusyn if they did.

The Church they attended in the USA was St Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Greek Catholic Church, South River NJ . They are buried in that cemetery.
I have a web page on World Connect at Rootsweb.com called THE ERRICKSON PAPERS but I have very little about the Tyrpak/Terpak/Terpack / Holowacz line.That line is the Paternal line of my children.
I was told they were Lemko but that the Lemko were extinct. I just recently found out that they aren't.

Many no longer live in Poland, but many do live in Western Ukraine.
They are a subethenosis of Ukrainians, of group made up of rusyns which comprises of Boikos and Hutsuls as well.

If you live on the east coast of the U.S. there are many rusyn/lemko organizations.
