Carol,

Once you have put together the family tree, consider taking your children
to a Lemko Vatra. They are held in US, Canada, Poland and Ukraine. Lemkos
from all over globe, gather at these cultural festivals. The most
important Vatra is held in Zdynia, in Lemkivschyna itself.

Lemko culture is an anthropoligical pearl and inspite of all
attempts to destroy it, continues to get passed on.

Thank-you

Thank-You both for this information. I will try to get to a LDS center to follow up on this.
Ever since I found out that the Lemko were not extinct, I have been reading everything I can on them.Such hardships these people endured, yet they still maintained such beautiful spirit. They are a very STRONG stock.
Reading about the customs , and foods, all brought back fond memories of the deceased family members.
Aunt Helen taught me how to make the most delicious Bobka , Perogies and I can't spell the name of the other one, but in American they call it cabbage rolls. I have passed these recipe's down to my children.
I remember going to Church in South River over Easter with my Mother-in - Law and her brother. I remember spending hours on my knees in prayer. This was not an easy task because I was expecting my third child at the time. This child is this daughter who is so interested in tracing these roots. I can't help but wonder if her ancestor's aren't reaching out to her.
I remember the beautiful ceremony of The Blessing Of The Graves.
Again, Thank-You so much for the help.
