Request of directions
I am looking for directions of the town halls, municipalities, for Departments of the Interior, etc. that belong to the region of Rivne or Rovno, punctually in Dubno, since my grandparents emigrated from the current Ukraine that in these moments was USSR and Poland. I am of Argentina and my embassy in Ukraine does not answer me and the embassy of Ukraine in Argentina says to me that I himself have to send the papers to this region that's why any fact on these directions or places for to obtain them it will be enormously grateful.

When did your Grandparents emigrate?
Did they emigrate directly from Dubno or via Germany after the War? Are you sure they were from Dubno, the district center, or one of the smaller villages in the district? Are you looking for documents like birth certificates? What religion did they practice? |

Answer
My grandparents emigrated in 1938 for the first time from Dubno going out for Poland. I am not sure of the exact place of Dubno, since at present in the map they appear in two different places inside Ukraine. Yes, I look for birth certificates or other documents. I have passports of both. They were orthodox. If you can offer to me mail addresses, e-mail, streets, etc. of the Department of the Interior of the Region it would be grateful since the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina says to me

Your Dubno can only be the one in Rivnenska (Rivne/Rowno in Polish) oblast/region, because you surname
is Druziuk. This is a Vohlynian (Vohlyn) name. Dubno is an ancient town, dating back to 11th century. From late 18th century to 1921, Vohlynskaya gubernia was under Tzarist Russia and post Red Revolution under Bolshovyk Russia. From 1921 - 1939 Wohlynskie wojiwodstwo came under Reconstituted Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs. Post WW2 Vohlyn became a part of Soviet Russia, until 1991 when Ukraine became independent. During Soviet Period, Vohlyn was divided into smaller oblasts: Rivnenska, Zhytomirska, Khmelnytska and Vohlynska oblasts. Little parts NE of Kovel went to Belarus. During Russian period Zhytomir was capital of Vohlyn. During Polish Period, Lutsk was the capital. The Dept of Interior cannot help you. Records in Ukraine are kept in Archives. Depending on the time period and religion, records are in different places. There are Byzantine Catholic Records for Dubno available through LDS, but they are quite old: 1777-1821. You could always look into them at a later date. Can you scan the passports for me, so I can take a look and then can tell you how you need to proceed? Please send them to me. mitehelp@aol.com Last edited by Hannia; 19th February 2008 at 02:40. |

Does there exist the possibility of sending the papers that I have route postal mail to a civil record, municipality, town hall, etc?.
Since thus it is supposed that they themselves would have to answer me deribandome to where it should correspond. You have the directions of some municipality, town hall, civil record or another place where they register papers at present to be able to order them a letter. ![]() |

State Archives of Volhynia Oblast [Derzhavnyi arkhiv Volynskoi oblasti] 21 Veteraniv St., (Archives 1) 37a Glyshets St., (Archives 2) 43024 Lutsk Ukraina Tel:Fax: (03322) 5-75-33 E-mail: davo@fk.lutsk.ua Qué expedientes usted desea para enviarlos y para qué propósito? Si usted quisiera que los archivos hicieran la investigación, usted escribe una letra de la investigación. Usted no les envía ninguna papeles. |
