Закерзоння translates to Trans-Curzon.

This is the official name of Ukrainian ethnic territories, that were located west of the British created Curzon line
and belonged to Poland: Lemkivschyna, Pidlyasha, Possanya, Sokalschyna, Rawschyna & Chelmschyna. It was
the Curzon demarcation line that was the Soviet rationale for deportation of ethnic Ukrainians to Ukraine and
ethnic Poles to Poland. In 1947 it was also the basis for Communist Poland's "Action Visla", the resettlement
of Lemkos from their ancestral lands to fallow lands, formerly inhabited by Germans in Poland.

Tempo,

I know you have a deep interest in the history of your roots,
so I thought you would not mind the length of this article.

Hannia

It would have taken me forever to phonetically connect Curzon with Za kerzonnya. I am trying to learn Ukrainian but there are no Saturday schools in my part of the country –Зaппалачя.

The article you supplied was greatly appreciated. It is hard to imagine the hardships that had to be endured. Our families histories would not be complete without understanding and remembering what took place over 60 years ago in Закерзоння.

Дякую знов
