Need help finding family in Ukraine

was wondering how I could find some of my ancestors in the ukraine. grandfather Petro Szklaruk/Shklaruk born in Krywenkie (Шклярук /Склярук з Кривеньке, HA) he immigrated to canada in 1907to join his brother Iwan/John who had come earlier in 1904.
I've never been in contact with any of their family back in the Ukraine. I'd love to get in touch with them!
Petro & John also had an older sister Anna, who married a Tretiak. Family stories have her living until she was 114 years old!
is there some way to find a mailing address for my ancestors family? I don't know how big of a place Krywenkie is.....is there a cemetery where i can find the graves of my ancestors??

thanks
Margaret

Welcome Margaret,

From late 18th century to 1919 wies/village Krzywenkie was a
predominantly Ruthenian/Ukrainian village w/its own GC Church.
The filial RC Church was in Sidorow. Husyatyn was both the
powiat/administrative district and the gmina/judicial-tax district>
Tarnipolskie wojiwodstwo/region > Galicia (Halyczyna in Ukr)
Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian
Empire. Iwan and Petro were born ethnically Ukrainian, but they
were considered Austrian citizens. From 1919-1939 the Tarnipol Region
came under Reconstituted Poland's domain. During this time frame
Kopyczynce was the powiat. All previous names are transliterated from Polish.
Post WW2 this region became a part of SSR Ukraine, under Soviet domain,
until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.

TODAY selo/village Kryvenkie is hamlet size, consisting of 529
residents > Chortkivskij (Chortkhiv/Чортк╕в ) raion/district > Ternopilska
(Ternopil) oblast/region > Ukraine, latest zip is 48522.

I checked the White Pages for Shklaruk. It looks like there were
Shklar's in the village, not Shklaruk's???

These are the only Shklyar's I found in the district. Shklyar is
closer transliteration to Шкляр. There may be others in Ternopil,
the regional center. Many villagers have migrated to the larger towns
for economic reasons.

Шкляр З. М. Кривеньке +3-803-552- 6-28-68
Шкляр М. ╤. Чортк╕в +3-803-552- 3-11-51

Consider contacting Village Mayor (Holova Silskoji Rady) amd making an
inquiry or just writing to above, Шкляр З. М., and asking re any surviving
family. Communicating in Ukrainian is ideal. Do you have someone locally
that would be able to help w/translation? Otherwise one of our members
can help. Rates are very fair.

Thank you!
I thought someone told me the uk part meant it was a male & just szklar meant it was a female...so many differ things to remember, i get confused.
Is there a white pages i can check online??
I will start writing my letters to the above families & mayor. I have a computer program to help with translation and a friend to make sure it's correct. thanks for the offer..

Now, for a more difficult one...if you don't mind me asking...I also have my grandmother's family in the ukraine. I was in contact with a distant relative (half great grand nephew) of hers, but is now lost.
Sophia Pazjuk/Paruk ( i really am not sure of the spelling) b.1892 in Velyki Chornokintsi, dau of Andrij Pazjuk & Paraska Manigda. Stories say that he was married twice, had 9 children at least, but don't know who are sophia's half siblings...Since it was such a large family there should still be someone still around! Where could I find them??

thanks

Margaret, the surname is plain old Sh-klyar. Those above are the only two Shklyar's
that show up in Chortkiv White Pages. I saw no variations.

THank YOU!!!
With there being so many people living there is it ok if i just address the letters as you listed the people?? or do they need full addresses??
NO, I've never looked at any lds info. I actually just looked up Krywenke & Velyki Chornokivtsi the other day. Havne't called the lds library to find out how long it would take to get ordered etc.
Do you have any tips on what i should be looking for when i do go??
Thank you!

I would not inundate the village w/letters.

Your letters will get there by addressing as below.
The simpler your inquiry, the better.

These are very likely some distant cousins of yours
and should be able to help you make contact w/others in
the surviving family.
