Where is Hrechanna?
Where is Hrechanna?
Growing up, my father seldom talked about his family. He did say that his cousins from "Russia" stopped writing letters in the 1930's. Over the years I gathered that his family lived in Podolia, they were farmers and they were all proud of speaking "high Russian." A few months ago I came across some family papers. Immigration papers indicated that my grandfather came to America from Hrechanna, Russia, in 1913. I also found a photograph, evidently from the 1920's, with a note indicating that the people in the photo were my great grandfather and my grandfather's sisters and their children. I also found an envelop that had not been mailed addressed to these sisters. I could not read the address and had a translator translate the address on the envelop. Here's the address" Kamenets-Podolskiy (Province) Proskyrovskiy (Region) Post Office Tarnoruda Village Hrichanna Maria Shkolnyk or Paraskovia Har from Brother Theodoro I would really like to know where Hrichanna is. Can someone tell me where it is? The translator said he did not know. |
