conscripted into the Red Army during WW2 and never heard from again.

This is his assessment of the link.

browsing it. It is a great project and it should help a lot of people.
So far I was unable to locate info about my grandfather but found few
interesting peaces about people from my village. It is possible to do
search there not only by last name but also by village, oblast and so
on. I found that many villages are spealt not correctly so it is
important to try different spellings."
