Last name of é Ï × Å Ã found

I have found the name á Ò Ô Ñ Í é Ï × Å Ã as my grandfather's ancestral name from the town of Berezhnitsa, Ukraine. The name has been interpreted as Artem Eoviec, Albert Jowetz, Worciek Jowiec, and Albert Yowtz. His parent's names listed on his application for Social Security were father - Matwej followed by a blank space and mother - Natalida Falciuk. I am confused as to how to search for any further information given all the interpretation from one language to another. I have searched for information on all these names and spellings, but have found nothing yet.

A letter from 1947 was interpreted as saying that Artem's brother died in 1943 leaving adult children Valia, Ira, Tania, Misha, Iakim and Mania, all of whom may now have passed away. The interpreter said that this village was primarily Jewish.

Does anyone have advice for me to proceed? Also does anyone know how I might find out if our roots are Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Jewish or other? It seems the more information I obtain, the more confused I get! Thank you for any assistance you might provide.

Happy New Year!

From late 18th century to 1921 Berezhnitsia > Lutsk uyezd >
Vohlynskaya gubernia/region > Russian Empire.

From 1921- 1938 Bereznica > Sarny powiat (adm district) >
Polesie wojiwodstwo/region > Reconstituted Poland.

Post WW2 region became a part of SSR Ukraine, under Soviet domain
until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.

TODAY selo/village Berezhnitsia (coordinates 51.34-26.34) still
exists > Dubrovytskij raion/district > Rivnenska oblast/region>
Ukraine, latest zip 34164.

Root word for village name BEREZA means BIRCH.

Post WW2, Vohlyn was divided. Biggest parts became Vohlyn & Rivne.
Other smaller portions became a part of Zhytomir & Khmelnytska oblasts.

Your village is appx 42 miles SSE of Pinsk in Belarus.

As per my previous post, most tobacco farmers in this immediate
area, frequently referred to as the Polesia marshes, were participants in a
feudal-type land lease system. There were several very prominent landowners
in Pinsk that grew very wealthy as a result.

Based on given names, my guess is that Artem's (áòô³í) family was
very likely ethnically BELARUSYN and Russian Orthodox by religion.

Valia, Ira, Tania, Misha, Iakim and Mania =
Valentina, Iryna, Tatiana, Myhail, Jakim, Marya or Marina.

When was Artem Yowtz born?

PS> Falciuk is distinctly Vohlynian Ukrainian surname.

Your ancestral village has not been copied by LDS. You have no recourse, but to contact the Lutsk Archives.

State Archives of Volhynia Oblast
21 Veteraniv St., (Archives 1)
37a Glyshets St., (Archives 2)
43024 Lutsk
Tel:Fax: (03322) 5-75-33
E-mail: davo@fk.lutsk.ua
Working hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00-17:15; Friday, 8:00-16:00

Make your inquiry as short & simple as possible. First request a copy of ARTEM's birth certificate & list of siblings.
Indicate that he was very likely Prawoslavny/Orthodox, but maybe Greek Catholic. Give them his birthdate and the
name of village & district. Provide your return snail mail address. There is no prepayment. When they locate records
they will contact you, using Ukrainian. They will tell you what records are available, cost and method of payment.
We can deal w/the translation here.

Be prepared to wait.

PS> Olena might have been Artem's sister??? Above should answer that question.
