Torbics, Cebeks and Kopchiks

Hi,

Just looking for any info on the "Torbics" or they could be called "Torbich."

The line is as follows:

John Torbic born ABT 1821, died abt 1925.

his son (possibly) is Frank Torbic born abt 1860, died 1922.
Frank Torbic's wife: Nancy Cebek.

The son of Frank Torbic is John (Jan) Torbic, born 1891, died 1964. Jan Torbic's wife was Julia Kopchik, born 1899, died 1941.

It's known that the family came from a place called Malaberzna Czechslovkia, which I cannot find any info on either.

I'm finding it difficult to trace this line. Any help or insight would be great.

Thanks!

Finally

Hello Kelty.

Malaberzna Czechslovkia = 1920's

Today your ancestral selo/village is called Malyj Bereznyj >
Velykobereznyanskij (Velykyj Bereznyj, formerly called Nagy-Berezna
during Hungarian Era) raion/district > Zakarpatska oblast/region > Ukraine,
latest zip code 89040. Coordinates 48œ52' 22œ27'.

At the turn of the century your ancestral village was called
Kis-Berezna (Hungarian name) > Bereznai jaras/district >
Ung Megve/county > Kingdom of Hungary, Austro-Hungary.

During Czechoslovakian Period the village was called
Maleberezne and the district center was called
Velkeberezne.

Use Mapquest (M) on Shtetlseeker to locate your village.

As per Ellis Island there is an Andreas Torbics arriving in 8/1899.
He was coming from Kis Berezna and heading to cousin's in
in Scranton.

I suspect your Cebek is Czibik/Czjbik on Ellis Island ???

All names listed on Ellis Island coming from Kis Berezna.
When you access link, do not add anything. Just scroll down to end
