Kroczak

Irvin,

Thanks for pursuing contact, sorry I didn't know the posting was left.

Over the last few years we experienced a melt-down and lost our home, business and truck and had to start over. General Contracting has again slowed but things are okay now.

Kroczak! My seventh great grandfather was Basilij Kroczak, he was married to Marianna (surname not listed) and had one daughter that I know of Mariana Kroczakowa. Mariana was married to Josephus Tompalski and had three children I know of: Antonius born abt 1824, Petrus born abt 1826, and Marianna born 4 April 1828 in Borszczow, Borszczow, Ternopil, Ukraine (probably Austria at this time).

With that said, the parents are typically 20-30 years older than the parents, giving a date of Mariana Kroczakowa of abt 1794-1804 for her birth, and Basilij Kroczak of about 1774-1784. Oldest records I can understand from this area go back to about 1650!!

The 1799 census should have these family names on it. I also haven't yet pursued the Kroczak line much, but I will this week for you. I should be able to put together a skeleton of a Kroczak family from 1780-1890. I will look up every Kroczak name and put them together and see what comes of it. I need the information from this line too, so it will be fun. I would be interested in more detailed descendant information that you have on this line, that will help greatly!

Al

Hello Mr Czubak. I see you have done some research in the area of Borshchiv. I also have great grandparents that came to Saskatchewan in 1900 and 1901. According to the census of 1911 the name spelling is Bojenco, on his homestead papers it was spelled Beauco, and we have always had the spelling of Boyenko. All Boyenko's as far as we know are related that live in Canada. Have you seen any names that I may research that may be related. This is the name of my father and his people. My mother's name was Hryciw which may or may not be the correct spelling. They also came from the same area about the same time. Anything with that name. Any direction any one can give would be greatly appreciated. My wife and I are planning a trip to the area in May and would dearly love to see if we have and meet any one that would be related.

Dear Don!
I previously worked with Albert Chubak (spent genealogical research in the Borschiv and village Slobidka Mushkativska).
I have a lot of information about Borschiv district. Write more about the family.
Igor

Question Igor Voronchak

I was happy to see your reply to my questions in regard to my great grandparents. I am sorry that I did not respond right away as I was in an area with no access to internet. According to a record that my grandfather wrote he was from Borshchiv (village) Verchnakiwci (county). His name was Nick Hryciw and his parents were Maria Regush and Michael Hryciw. He was born Nov. 25, 1894 and immigrated to Canada when he was 10. Others say they immigrated in 1909. Their religion was Greed Orthodox. 2 other sons were also born there, John and Peter.
The other side of my family is Boyenko. My grandfather was Fred Boyenko, born in 1880 in Borshchiv. His father was Nicola(Nykola) Boyenko and his mother's name was Tekla, and I do not know her maiden name. They immigratred to Canada in the 1890's along with 4 children, Fred (my grandfather), Jacob, Anna and Michalyne. I believe that their religion was Ukranian Catholic. Any information would be very helpful. Are you in the Ukraine or are you living in Canada? All these ancestors came to the area of the north west territories which is now Saskatchewan. Is there any way of contacting you directly. Thanj you Don Boyenko

Dear Don!
I live in the city of Lviv (Ukraine). Born in the village Ozeryany (about 10 km from Verhnyakivtsi). Over 10 years I have been doing genealogical research. This is my hobby (no source of income).
The basis for genealogical research is the metric book. They were in Latin.
I have a Greek-Catholic metric marriages Verhnyakivtsi. I found information on the family.

February 19, 1894 married Michael Hryciw (son deceased Joannes and Anna Mulyk) - 23 years with Maria Regusz (Gregorius and Anastasia Polanska) - 20 years.
Hrytsiv family lived in the house number 157, and Rehush in house number 15

Michael was born about 1871.
His father (Ivan (latin- Joannes)) was born about 1836, was married twice.
Parents Ivans were called Dmitry Hrytsiv and Anna Kurmej.
Ivan married the first time November 18, 1860 with Irina Danyliuk.
The second time married November 17, 1867 with Anna Mulyk.

There are lots of other information.

Also studied Greek Catholic metric birth Borschiv (Ternopil region!) For 1879-1881. There no record of the birth of Theodor (Fred) Boyenko.

In Ukraine there are other Borschiv!

Surname Shymko

Hello, I have been attempting to research my family history and have not had much luck on the Polish/Ukrainian side. To be honest, my family always said their were Ukrainian but I realize that borders changed with the wind in the late 1800's.
I am particularly interested in my Great Grandfather Egnace Antoni Shymko (Angus is what he went by here in Canada). I am not sure where this info comes from but I am told he was from Borszczow or Borshchiv.
He was born in 1898 and married a woman named Mary Sytnick. They had 3 children, Ernest, Rose and Edna who died in a kitchen fire at a young age.
I would love to find more information about Grandpa Angus. With a village as a jumping off point, I think I may have more luck.
Best,
Brenda

1799 census

Hi: Mr Chubak

In your research of the 1799 census for BORSZCZOW, would it be possible to find out if any of the Michasiows from Tarnawka, Borszczow
were on the 1799 census list. My great grandfather's name was Danilo.
