From late 18th century to 1918 Jamnica (official Polish name for Yamnytsia) was predominantly a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village w/its own Greek Catholic Church > Stanislawow (became Ivano-Frankivsk post 1964) was both the powiat (adm district) and the gmina (judicial/tax district) > Galicia Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The filial RC Church was in Stanislawow. From 1919-1939 the Stanislawow Region came under Reconstituted Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs. Post WW2 SSR Ukraine was under Soviet domain until 1991 when it became independent.
The Ivano-Frankivsk Region was ravaged by both the Nazis and the Soviets. There was not a family in Yamnytsia that escaped a loss of family members. There are many Ukrainian heroes from this region. Today Yamnytsia > Tysmenytskij (Tysmenytsia) raion/district > Ivano-Frankivska Oblast/Region > Ukraine (int'l abbr UA), latest zip code 77422. LDS has filmed a limited amt of GC metrikal records from Yamnytsia.
