From late 18th century to 1918 Jamnica (official Polish name for Yamnytsia) was predominantly a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village w/its own Greek Catholic Church > Stanislawow (became Ivano-Frankivsk post 1964) was both the powiat (adm district) and the gmina (judicial/tax district) > Galicia Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The filial RC Church was in Stanislawow. From 1919-1939 the Stanislawow Region came under Reconstituted Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs. Post WW2 SSR Ukraine was under Soviet domain until 1991 when it became independent.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Region was ravaged by both the Nazis and the Soviets. There was not a family in Yamnytsia that escaped a loss of family members. There are many Ukrainian heroes from this region.

Today Yamnytsia > Tysmenytskij (Tysmenytsia) raion/district > Ivano-Frankivska Oblast/Region > Ukraine (int'l abbr UA), latest zip code 77422.

LDS has filmed a limited amt of GC metrikal records from Yamnytsia.

Film # 2395665 item 11
birth records 1873-1876

Film # 2395666 item 7
birth records 1876-1895

Once you have put together a base for your family tree, contact the Oblast Archives and have them complete the missing data
for you. There is no prepayment. They will notify you what info is available and what the cost and method of payment
will be. They will provide you w/metrykal info that is over 75 yrs old. Any records under 75 yrs can be obtained thru district archives/RAHS. This is a more complicated process. You will need to obtain a Privacy Release thru your nearest Ukrainian Embassy or Consulate. Then you can make a specific inquiry at the RAHS.

Once you have some names, consider hiring someone like Yurko, a Member on this Board and a resident in Ivano-Frankivsk, the city. He could easily travel to your ancestral village and look for any surviving relatives still in Yamnytsia.
