Do you mean the first or the second name ? Mikita as a male name is quite popular noowadays in Ukraine. But as the second name (surname) it is very rare.
In traditional Ukrainian folk tales Mikita is a name of a cunning fox - Лис Микита. Hope you know about it. Hello from Ukraine ! |

As per Ellis Island Records (USA), surname Mikita/Mykita (another transliteration variant) was
not uncommon to what is Zakarpatska Region and the pre-Carpathian area of Halyczyna today. There were at least 60 immigrants listed w/your same surname coming into New York during the Great Immigration (1900-1914). Where did your Mikita settle upon immigration and in what appx time frame? |

Hello, My paternal grandparent's names were Joseph Mikita and Mary Havrylik ( not sure of spelling) Mikita. They came to the USA (Pennsylvania) between 1903 and 1908. Dad told me his parents were born in Austria, lived in Galicia, and were Ukrainians. I see both Mikita and Havrylik surnames posted by Hannia, but am confused as to where to look for my ancestors. Can you help me out? Thanks, Donna (Mikita )Parsons
