the word "vodka" comes form the ukrainian word "voda" (water).

For me, the explanation would not be difficult.
In Polish, we have a word gozhalka [Old Polish word for vodka] , and it must be derived from gozhets' which means: to burn. Does it fit any Ukrainian wording?

Yes, it does; but you did not understand me.
I just wanted to say that we don't have any connection with "vodka" because "voda" is also Russian word.

OK.
They teach us here that vodka came to Poland from Western Europe. Our most ancient alcoholic drinks were based on honey fermentation (miody pitne).
