I have friends who - like myself - come back from a trip abroad and say "I couldn't get a good pint ANYWHERE"

By which we mean a real ale, hop/malt based deep rich BEER (not lager like Stella, etc.)

Am I right here, or do other Countries have good LOCAL brewed beers....the kind that would make you chose 1 Pub over another....each having different brews??

Andrew (hic !) ( joke )

Andrew,

Wouldn't it be nice to just stand up and say that we (the Brits) have the best and only decent pint. Sorry mate, no such luck I'm afraid.

Numerous places have been brewing real ale for many years, and I've tried a few. Even where Niquie lives (if she lives near VCI HQ) has some great beers. Micro breweries are all over the place, and their offerings are anywhere near as good as YOUNGS etal. They are everywhere including Portland and Seatle and any number of other places. Even a good one just down the road from me in Atlanta (Buckhead Breweries).

Hey Andrew, isn't it just an unfortunate Brit trait to expect foreigners to do everything exactly the way it's done back in auld Albion? Even if it eventually turned out that there were no decent beers anywhere else in the whole world, a preposterous proposition by the way, one could spend several lifetimes in a hopeless quest, with the perfect excuse to visit every country in the world and try all their beers! When can I start????

Len, do you really have to go all the way from Dubya-land to Atlanta to find a decent pint? I think not.

Charlie,

I'm confused...I visit Texas (used to live there), but live 35 miles north of Atlanta.
