Recipes

How about a thread on home cooked recipies? There are a lot of people, not just Ukrainians, but from around the world here, and I bet there is some great food to be had if everyone posted their own, or grandma's favorite recipe. What do you think? Just an idea!

bubyshaka, here is a recipe for varenyki -

Martha Stewart is Polish, and she has a lot of traditional Polish recipes on her site. Her dough is very good. But you are in Austrailia, I believe - your flour and sour cream may be a bit different, so you may need to experiment.

To the potato filling, I would add carmelized onions.
and garlick!!! Also, how about cherry vareniki?mmmmmmmm....

ONION SALAD:

Peel and cut a mild onion into very thin slices. Sprinkle it with salt and very mild vinegar. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes. Drain thoroughly. Arrange the onion on lettuce leaves, put a spoonful of sour cream in the centre, and then sprinkle it with paprika.
