At the grocery store yesterday...
1) Walking by the salad aisle, two fat women had their cart stuffed with processed crap like fish fingers and pizza pops. One of them said to the other "yah, let's not buy bagged salad anymore since we never eat it" I was thinking "oh man, you definitely need some salad" 2) Waiting in line and the people in front of me had $200 (!!!) worth of crap like pizza pops, fish fingers and microwave dinners. Surprise surprise - they were fat. You could eat healthier AND save money by buying fresh and cooking yourself. Ok, now I understand that maybe sometimes, those things are convenient, but they sure as hell shouldn't make up a bulk of your diet. It was disgusting. |

V-G,
I can admit that i am chubby / fat. I never eat fast food. Once in a blue moon i may eat a bag of chips. I eat some other snacks like ice cream, but not the way you describe it. I think it all has to do with peoples motabolism. My mangers can eat a box of pizza daily for lunch and still remain fit. And i know he doesnt have time to go to the gym because he has a family of 3 kids and a wife. I also try to go to the gym daily (this weekend i got too lazy though. Memorial Day). Do I lose weight. Well, i have been going to the gym for about a month. Lost about 10 pounds. So, thats why i didnt really comment on anything else. Last edited by stepanstas; 26th May 2008 at 20:12. Good for you Stepan and I really mean it (re: going to the gym). 10lbs lost in just a month, I am impressed. Keep it up, believe me it is worth it.
I am in decent shape, not a pro athlete but I enjoy sports so I tend to exercise a lot. But living in this country I find it difficult to understand how people can live off junk food. The fact that you don't is already good. Kathy, I realize that people don't know how to cook, but is that an excuse? I am a guy who didn't cook a meal until I left my parents (and Ukraine) and at the moment I can slap together a decent meal within 30 minutes, even frozen stuff takes almost the same amount of time. How did I learn? I called my mom, I bought a few cook books... really, not a big deal. As far as working late thing goes... that is a valid excuse, working full time and studying full time left me with very little time to cook and I was in the same boat. Sandwiches were my solution, but they aren't great (processed meat). |
