I would really love some help around here
![]() Let me know why you would be a good moderator and which board you'd like to moderate, you may also moderate more than one board if you feel that you have the time and interest. I realized that knowing Ukrainian should not be an asset, since most of our members speak English and some of us who do speak Ukrainian are always around. 1. Guest Book 2. Politics 3. Business 4. Current Events 5. Open Board 6. History 7. Food and Drink 8. Language 9. Literature and Film 10. Music and Art 11. School Projects 12. Sports 13. Religion 14. Personals 15. Genealogy 16. Pen Pals 17. In the News 18. GLBT Pen Pals 19. Human Rights in Ukraine 20. International Human Rights 21. Travel Tips 22. Moving Please think carefully about the above posted topics, if you are interested in regularly (once a week or more) contributing to them as a moderator, please let me know in this thread! THANK YOU in advance, your Irina

If for example you chose to moderate Open Board, you basically do not have a specific subject or topic to work with, you contribute to existing threads as you already do and you may come up with your own topics on just about anything from jokes and funny tests to everyday stuff like what you have recently read or whether your car broke down LOL
![]() (you're creative ) Your main job would be to monitor threads for foul language, harrassment of members, welcoming new visitors when they say Hello..etc.. If for example you chose something more specific like "Sports", you may monitor how Ukraine does against other countries in various sports or matches that it participates in, also you may create threads discussing who's likely to win or lose, it's all up to your interest and creativity. You may chose multiple boards like "Food and Drink", "Religion", and "Personals", basically contributing to each board with articles from News sites, Magazines..etc.. that you find interesting, also posting your favorite recipes and discussing relationships...etc.. It's all creative and fun, also very voluntary. If you feel up to it and find a board that you'd love to contribute to, let me know. Also, do not be overwhelmed with responsibility, just take it a couple of steps at a time, relax, figure out what you really like to do and see where it goes, I'm ALWAYS here if you need me. I would very much like to recruit SEVERAL moderators, Ukraine.com has the potential to be a very interesting, fun, and informative site, also by becoming a moderator you have the potential to get to know more people closely and improve your own knowledge about specific subjects that you chose to moderate. This is a 100% volunteer job, the only thing required is good will, creativity, interest, and a bit of extra time. Have fun with your choice and let me know what you think! ![]() Irina

There are MANY Ukrainian language sites as well as English, I find some Russian news about Ukraine to be a bit ... how do you say... sarcastic at times, not all though.
Thank you for your time and interest ![]() Irina

"I find some Russian news about Ukraine to be a bit ... how do you say... sarcastic at times, not all though" - Whoa! I knew that, I 'm not that naive
I (slowly) read the Russian language pages of the Ukrainian press, and stick the bits I don't understand on the babelfish translation thingy. They do have English pages, but they're often not as detailed as the Russky & Ukrainsky pages. These are the ones I trawl through: http://www.mirror.kiev.ua/ie/index/416/ http://www.day.kiev.ua/rus/2002/196/nomer.htm http://www.odessaglobe.com/russian/news.htm http://www.pravda.com.ua/ru/ http://www.dynamomania.com/ http://www.chernomorets.odessa.ua Apart from the last 2 I don't know how trustworthy they are, but they can't be as bad as the British media ![]() My ambition to learn Ukrainian is postponed until I'm fluent-ish in Russian, so hopefully my ignorance is temporary. |

Hi, thanks for replying
I know all of the above sites, the only one that I dislike is http://www.pravda.ru but at times they do have interesting articles, but most of the time it's a bit too sensationalistic LOL They have a flare for drama
I have some other links that I read regularly, I'll list them here a bit later.Basically, your main interest would be "Current Events", right? If you have decided to give moderating a try, let me know, so I may contact one of the administrators. Also, there is an icon "Moderators" at the very top of this page, click on it. Irina
