A Challenge; Or A Ban?

The Difference between a Challenge and a Banning. A challenge is an attempt by a member, or group, to have removed or restricted that material/s which they find objectionable, based upon that person's, or group's, own interpretation of the matter being disputed. A banning is the removal of material/s which a majority of individuals find objectionable (or at least it ought to be the majority rule). Challenges on forums such as Ukrain.com moves somewhat beyond that which involves just a person who expresses a personal point of view; rather, it becomes an issue that brings into play the opinions of both Administrator/s and Moderastor/s in the attempt by someone to have removed material from the board, thereby bring into play the judgments of several people in an effort to restrict the right of free speech of others. Most challenges on the forums I vist are unsuccessful, and most of the supposedly objectional material/s is retained rather than committing an act that abridges a person's right of free speech. Sadly, on VC such observances are not the norm, as moderators seem to have the power to either modify or delete any and all posts they find does not meet their own beliefs. Nonson 04.01.01 |

Yes, the Moderators and Admin do have the ultimate power to personally decide what is offensive and what is not. Other members opinions do influence our decisions. VCi is not able to provide a clear cut definition for "offensive" that does not take personal opinion into account. It is unfortunate that the rules cannot be clearly defined, and that it is left to personal judgment. But, we are placed here to help do what is best for the board with what ever means we do have.
Nonson, we truly are not trying to take away anyone's right to free speech, we are only trying to keep the peace. And, as you know from Russia.com, this is an extremely difficult task. We welcome your comments and suggestions to help us make this discussion board a success. But, do not ask us not to monitor the inappropriate language on this site. There are no age restrictions or warnings for viewing the boards, so we must try to keep the language clean, at minimum. You are a welcomed and valued VCi member. Please email me directly if you would like to further discuss these issues in private. Thank you, |

Admin Please Delete My Account from Ukraine.Com
Admin! I wish to have my account deleted since I find it tiresome of this bickering and non-stop insults from Nonson.
Thank You! I have provided my user name and passcode by the latest email I have sent you! |

Admin:
My own belief is that there should be no "forbidden language" whatsoever. I am currently on sites where the 'No holds Barred" rule reigns supreme. It can get very educational, to say the least. But I believe such policies are not right for forums that are more family-oriented. Too, a daily dealing with the vulgar becomes a very good reason not to visit that site. Next in line is the mean-spiritedness that arises on any forum that is not closely moderated. This is what happened to Russia.com on two different occasions while I have been a member. The source of the ill-will is usually politics, and it spills over into the other boards. Politics is war. It is about winning. Some real nasty people play the game, and they play for keeps. Steep the body politik with religious fervor, giving it a sounding board, and you have trouble with a thousand hoary heads. I become a real problem when the religious/political fanatics start trying to push me or others around, as though we don't really matter in their world. And I do get rather robust in my efforts to correct the mis-perceptions of these beings(?). Nonson 04.02.01 |

Sorry, Pierrogies!
I believe that you're a nice person. I belive that you came to this site with good intentions! But things got a little too messy later! I think that you just want the world to be perfect and it isn't! There is always gonna be someone else who has a different idea of a perfect world! You just have to learn to accept their opinion and try to understand why do they think so? I do not say that you have to drop yours right there! That includes that &*$%#% Milton's post and non Polish view of history! I do not know why did you grew to dislike Irena so much! I guess the answer is..because she is an atheist, trully anti-Russian, pro-Chechen, bite your head off, sweet little lady? OK! So...let's vote her off the island? No, I do not think it's right! Plus, I do share some of her ideas...I guess I will just have to follow her depature (if it happened) for some different matter/issue a little later, if we addopt a universal "do not offend anybody policy on this board!" Plus, she is the only true Ukrainian on this board, which is rare, not a Canadian/American/Portugese surogate( pardon), and she posts a lot of good topics as well! I'm just tired of coming to the forum and reading nothing but personal insults! It's just gotta stop! Nonson is mighty popoular these days! More than half of the topics are devoted to him! I'm getting almost jelous! ![]() But he is a different topic altogether! He brings a lot of different ideas to this board and makes it much more interesting! If we would narrow it olnly to one point of view that would be such a bore! That's his good part, and we shouldn't ignore it as well! I would not mind though if he tryes to be "a little nicer" to his victims I mean name calling in normal boring disscussion forum life! I definitly do not expect to see him to love and hug Kazanova tomorrow, because we all came from Adam & Eve! Though it would be fun to watch, if it ever happened! ![]() Are you there Nonson? |
