How can we make this place fun again?

Back when I just joined this forum (year 2000 under a different nick), it was flourishing with debate. Every day one would come and easily find a nice conversation to join.

Today - just have a look around. This place is lucky to have just one conversation that is not a week stale.

How can we make this place fun again? New members will start joining and posting if this place is 'alive' - but like in a vicious circle, without new members we can't really have this place 'alive'.

Has VCI administration thought of ways to increase foot-traffic here?

Not just the admin, but those who visit and do not post, what brings you here? Why come if not to participate?

Can the VCI guys do anything to make this place better? Speak your mind and be free.

Thanks for all your efforts in trying to revive the forum. I know its been a little quiet around here.

There is something in the works to try an increase "foot-traffic" with users who are registered, but are perhaps not posting.

I'll chat to our Super-Mod on Algeria.com, as he is a pro at getting people involved. Perhaps he can help me to help the mods on this forum.

One suggestion could be to research some of the active posters from the past and try to reach them with an email - bring them back.

Another is to have current folks revisit some of the arguments that were popular in the past, but were debated over an over again. Old member may no longer be interested in those arguments, but the newbies may just stick around.

Just like with any project - a small brainstorming session can go a long way.

Ok, here's some ideas for starting threads:
Games (eg. word games where each person builds on the previous post)
Favorite ... (Eg. what is your favorite animal?)
News articles related to Ukraine (a simple copy paste of an article that can be discussed further - not repeated copy paste)

Any more ideas out there?
