Hmm, good question. Sometimes this happens to alot of us. Especially when we are busy writing a lengthy reply only to find that all our efforts have been wasted after hitting the "Submit" button because the default interval timer has been used up and automatically logs you out. So these days, to be on the safe side, i'll usually copy my responses before i hit the button. That way, in case it automatically logs me out, i can still login and just paste over what i previously copied.

Anyway, i'll highlight this to the Admin, including your suggestions over at the Open Board. Thanks stepenstas.

Alright, Thanks a lot DigitaLVampirE

In the meantime, I use the Opera browser (I think it works with Firefox aswell) if you hit submit and you get asked to log in, you log in, then go back a few times and hit submit again and it works.

Thanks again.

Hi Everyone,

Ok, here's the lowdown on the log-off feature:

The setting is there to help protect people who log-in from public
computers (and obviously will then not click "Remember Me"). Without the feature, if they get up and leave without logging out or closing their browser, it will leave the session active for any passer-by to post as them or worse. Thus with it logging you out automatically after 15 mins, you are afforded greater protection.

If you are not using a public computer tick the "Remember Me" box when logging in. This should prevent the logging off action.

Alternatively, you can easily keep your session "active" by having the forum open in a second window and refreshing a page or browsing around inside the forum - any page loaded on the forum while logged in, constitutes the session being kept active and the 15 minutes being reset back to zero.

Logging out can also occur randomly at rare times (but again, only if you
did not click the "Remember Me" option) when the internet connection
changes it's ip-address. It happens sometimes on broadband / adsl
connections, not on dial-up though, although it's rare.

If you would like us to increase the period of time for logging off, please let us know.
