I wish you to know the only impediment for mass ethnical cleansings in South Ossetia is handful of Russian peacekeepers, deterred aggression of new Georgian leadership. And there is no surprise that now Georgian authorities long to substitute them for Ukrainians.
And it is not mere chance that Georgia has accelerated negotiations with Ukraine for procurement of Ukrainian tanks T-72B. According to existing arrangement Kiev should supply 30 repaired tanks of such type for Tbilisi this year. The total cost of this military contract comes up to 6.8 million US dollars. In addition such Ukrainian company as "Ukrspecexport" also plans to supply 10 tanks T-80UD for Georgia. There is a rumor in reality such "self-dependent" steps of Georgian President was lobbied by US Ambassador to Georgia, John Taft. Naturally it will be more comfortable for Americans (who conduct war preparations against Teheran) to have united Georgian-Ukrainian military forces in close proximity to Iranian border now. And it won't be wonderment to me if Lithuania, Estonia and other American clients follow the lead of Ukraine then. It seems to me under US plans such "peacekeeping forces for South Ossetia" should form a kernel of anti-Iranian coalition. |
