Mè ðàçîì, Óêðà¿íà!
We are with you, Ukraine! Tomorrow, the 26th of December, at 11.00, in the center of Bucharest, Romania (University Square), a highly acclaimed manifestation of solidarity with the people in Kiev's Independence Square will take place. We will be there to support free elections in our neighbour country. The manifestation will not sustain any of the two leaders (Yushcenko or Yanukovich), but those Ukrainians which fought for their right to choose freely, whoever may they want to be their political head for the next years. Dressed in blue and yellow, showing Ukrainian and Romanian flags, painted on the faces with your colours, we will write messages for you with chalk on the street. We will also draw on the theme "My Ukraine" - what does Ukraine mean for me now, after series of conflicts regarding the destruction of the Danube Delta (by building Bistroe channel), forcing of the boarders, taking over Snake's Island, closing Romanian schools in Bukovine. We aren't angry on the Ukrainian people for all that, but on both our Governments. So our message for you, Ukraine, is choose freely! Mè ðàçîì, Óêðà¿íà! Suntem alaturi de tine, Ucraina! Alege liber! Grupul Aglomerari Spontane You can pass this forward, if you want... |

Поздоровлення! (Pozdorovlenya!)
...especially to those who braved the sub-zero temperatures in Independence Square in Kyiv. That Ukraine is moving forward to better herself and escape from the clutches of Russia is nothing but amazing, and truly wonderful. Ukrainian soldiers have fought for democracy in Afghanistan, they're fighting for democracy in Iraq, and now Ukrainians are fighting for their own democracy. What's taking place in Ukraine right now is historic. Ukraine is now on the road to eventually becomming a member of the European Union and NATO... Who deserves it more? Russia under Putin is like a country living in the past with ghosts of totalitarianism, oppression, and dictatorship; not moving ahead. Ukraine is like a shining bright star, full of optimism and hope and everything postive. More power to her. America is with you, absolutely. |

Generally somehow I never liked the "we are with you! blah blah" expressions of support , but me and many people here in Poland are happy that democracy have won and the thugs have lost in Ukraine.Still,I cannot stop the feeling of sadness thinking about our "Solidarity" movement here in Poland and how that what was thought to be Solidarity's victory in Poland was just a battle won for freedom and stability, with many problems emerging after that. It's good that Putin's pet criminals have lost, but I'm afraid they and Putin WILL counterattack sooner or later and new battles should be fought in Ukraine, although the next time with bigger awareness and confidence in success. I think that these events ensured that the freedom will win, but the anti-democratic forces will still try again and attempt to enslave Ukrainians in one way or another. Michael |
