Cant aswer for millgirl, but...

V-G A REBEL FOR SURE! For example, I'll give my situation ( and we are not actively pursuing this - yet). Lets say we have two young boys, 2 and 6 yrs. Liklihood is that 3rd child would also be a boy. Yet, Mrs wants a girl. Also, the pregancies have gotten progeressively harder on Mrs. and she's getting a bit 'old' for another pregnancy anyhow.

Adopting a baby girl is a suitable solution in this case, yes?

Irinka - are you married? And the same question as to Millgirl, why get Ukrainian? I know you are from Canada for sure, so why don't you adopt Canadian?

Freedom, thanks for the post, I am sorry I didn't make myslef very clear here, what I meant was wy is Millgirl interested in adopting a child from Ukraine, I thought she lived in US, and if that is true, why get a kid from Ukraine?
As to the probabilty of having a daughter after two or three sons is the same as having a daughter on the first place. It's like tossing a coin, even after 100 times you scored heads the probability of scoring tails is 1/2... it doesn't change... with babies stuff it should be a tillte different though, not by much though.

VG, I am not from Canada, the US. It is almost impossible to adopt a child here, especially one of your own race unless you have $30,000 or more to spend. A child from Ukraine makes sense to someone whose ancestors are from there. It would help to let the child " know who he/she" as they got older, customs, etc.
I know several couples who have adopted children, from Korea and China. They did so because availability is not here and the cost! I also know a couple who spent $50.000 for a white baby. The woman had to move to California for 6 months prior to establish a residence there. They had to pay for maternity care, etx for the birth mother.

V-G, no its not a 50/50 toss after two boys.( so I am told) And there are other, much more health important issues than the sex of the child here. unfortunate, if I may be so bold, my Ukrainian genes are helping make beautiful, healthy, strong and exceptionally intelligent boys. I am truly blessed by God, and thank the divine intelligence daily for this, and pray I can be a good father to them. Hardest part is yet to come.

Plus, if one feels they would make a good parent, or already has, why not give an orphan a chance at a decent , normal, loving home. The crime of it is that so much of our basic emotional'programming' is set by the time we're two years of age, it becomes a true uphill battle to undo any early emotional 'scars'. But some, ( not I) are truly gifted at nurturing.

Aren't Ukrainian kids good looking? I'm sure you were a cute child V-G!
