Recent days Ukrainian officials posted that industrial production growth in year 2001 totalled over 14%!

In contradistinction to Russia, Ukraine doesn’t rely on oil or gas, it seems that its impressing economic growth has firm basis. How would you comment this phenomenon?

I’m a great beer’s fan, so I'm always looking forward similar information:

BTW, who knows what’s the financial engagement of the world breweries into this branch in Ukraine?

Moody raises Ukrainian banking system’s ratings:

but underlines that it’s still underdeveloped and must be reformed. Do you have some experiences with Ukrainian banks?

May I? I used a cash machine in the lobby of the Bratislava Hotel in Kiev on Dec 12, 2001. The cash machine said "not able to dispense money at this time". Then, I got home and $208.00 was deducted from my account. My bank is investigating.

Of course, this tale being micro-scale banking.

These things happen. I heard (I haven't experienced it personally yet) about similar cases in Poland. But I must say, that in most of them they were solved to the advantage of the customer of given bank.

Most of Polish banks have been privatized, but I can't say that the quality of services improved dramatically. They have new facades of the buildings, but the queues inside are as long as they were. I think that the next step is changing the mentality of people working in this trade.

In your case was it Ukrainian on foreign bank?
