Irena,

Give us the details of your thinking, please.

Also talk to us of what is going on. We can get plenty of highly slanted news items, but little in the way of personal knowledge of real-time events. Help us to understand the minute of life in Ukraine.

Excuse me, Stephen, but it seems to me that Timoshehko isn’t a marriageable girl. And persons in Kharkov’s kitchens know almost nothing about these things.

Now Nonson,
at the beginning Timoshenko didn’t know what she wanted herself. She started with Lazarenko because they are from the same region. She was a Lazarenko’s right hand, and they earned a lot of “dirty” money. She served Lazarenko faithfully.
When they caught Pasha with Panama’s passport Timoshenko managed to stay aside. When they call her to Government she agreed. Why? First, her pride, vanity… I don’t think than a woman needs money more than man, power, etc. Money are nothing without love, respect and worship. Please note that Timoshenko is a very energetic woman both directly and figuratively. She knew all the tricks and trade in gas branch.
There’s secondly for you. She needs of serving and she was serving…. The main thing she did – she took away non-monetary payments and increased revenue in cash from gas and coal sales. Government paid off miners’ and workers’, pensioners’ debts. She pinched many of tails (I mean "oligarchies tailes"). It’s natural that our “homespun” oligarchies incurred losses. They made a rush to Kuchma…
I think that she was always thinking of herself also… But she is of benefit to Ukraine also. She helped Ushtshenko and utilized him simultaneously.
She thought that people would forget and forgive her sins.
Now about Ushtshenko. His characteristics: kissel (kind of blancmange) and semolina. He’s a clever person, patriotic one, but he has a feeble character. When he was asked what he thinks of “tape scandal” he blurted out: “I’m shoulder to shoulder with President”.
The fact remains: Ukraine needs bright personalities, and Ukraine suffers for luck of them. And plus our people...I envy even not America or other civilized countries. I envy the Philippines.
There’s a painting!

Irena,

Thank you. Your post contains precisely the sort of local take which one needs to build a reasonable picture of the events occurring in Ukraine. Your's is the kind of info one's doesb't get from the mainstream media.
