Libya: Ukraine suspected of supplying arms.

Found looking through one rather trusted news agency’s website:

Quote:
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reports they suspect Ukraine of supplying Moammar Gadhafi’s army with small arms
Want to believe that those European arms trade watchdogs will appear to be in hurry with their anticipatory conclusions and accusations. Surely, I don’t exclude that arms in hands of the Gadhafi’s ‘punitive’ squads may be Ukraine produced weapons indeed, but this fact doesn’t say that it was exactly our country which sold it directly to the Gadhafi’s regime, does it? Well, personally I’m more than just sure that 98% of the Libyan Ukraine-made weapons have appeared there from Georgia. Yes and don’t be surprised here - while ass-faced Yushchenko was at the head of this country his lousy ‘orange’ regime constantly supplied Georgia with our Ukrainian weapons, selling it to their good Georgian friend Saakashvili under significantly underrated prices. Considering the fact, that recently Georgian army use the US-made weapons and equipment only, I guess it won’t be a trouble for us to guess that without much fanfare all the Ukrainian weapons in its turn had been simply resold to the Georgian friendly Gadhafi’s regime in that restless Libya. Yes, that is a f#cking set-up, we are to response now for....

Vasya Pupkin is back with more of his Soviet molasses. He neglects to tell us that Russia was chomping at the bit to sell weapons to Qadhafi, along with the French, Spaniards and Brits.

excerpt:
The subject of renewed arms sales to Libya remains a sensitive subject in the United States and some European countries whose citizens were killed in Libyan-sponsored terrorist attacks during the 1980s. The European Union lifted its arms embargo against Libya in October 2004. The U.S. ban on export of defense articles lapsed at the end of a 45-day congressional notification period, on June 30, 2006. Qadhafi reportedly has expressed interest in procuring U.S., European, and Russian weapon systems. France, Spain, Ukraine, and Russia are among the countries reportedly interested in refurbishing and replacing Libya’s weapon stocks. The United Kingdom’s Defense Export Services Organization (DESO) reportedly has labeled Libya a “priority” market in documents promoting exports by UK arms manufacturers, and press reports have detailed meetings between DESO representatives and Libyan authorities since 2004.

Vasya Pupkin, how many signatures do you have? Your style gives you away every time. You keep beating the Soviet drum, thinking that no one knows it's you.

I wouldn't worry too much about other countries blaming Ukraine. All of the major powers sell their weapons to the lesser countries and there's never any repercussions. Government doesn't care about the harm they cause by supplying weapons, they only care about money and power. Russia, U.S., G.B, France, Israel, Iran, North Korea...they're all the same, some are just more discreet about the persecution of their own people than others.
