Ukraine Gov't raises child assistance payments
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has raised the size of financial assistance paid on the birth of children, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy Sergiy Tigipko has said.
"Today we approved a very important resolution that changes the size of assistance paid on the birth of children in Ukraine," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday. Tigipko said that 22 living wages, or Hr 17,952, would now be paid on the birth of a first child. Of these funds, the one-time payment will be Hr 7,344, and every family will thenUA get Hr 884 each month for a year. On the birth of a second child, the size of financial assistance will be 45 living wages, or Hr 36,720. At the same time, the one-time payment will amount to Hr 7,344, and a family will then receive Hr 1,224 each month over two years. At the birth of the third and each successive child, the size of aid will total 90 living wages, or Hr 73,440. The one-time payment will be Hr 7,344, and Hr 1,836 will be allocated each month over three years. Tigipko said that the new size of the aid paid on the birth of children concerned women who gave birth to children from January 1, 2011. He recalled that last year's aid paid on the birth of a first child was Hr 12,240, with the one-time payment being Hr 4,800, a second child - Hr 25,000, and the third and each successive child – Hr 50,000. Unemployed - make babies!
I would have liked to have read more about this interesting article via AkMike, but unfortunately as I'm back in the UK I'm blocked from the Kyiv Post (see below).
However, unless I've misunderstood the value of these available Ukraine Maternity Benefits, my advice to unemployed fertile Ukrainian couples is to start making babies (and hopefully enjoy the task)! The Kyivi Post is in protest of the draconian libel laws there that hinder legitimate free speech and threaten the work of independent journalists, authors, scientists and others worldwide. In a phenomenon known as “libel tourism,” rich and powerful plaintiffs file lawsuits in London – “the libel capital of the world” – to exploit laws stacked in their favor, stifling journalism and threatening news organizations and others with costly lawsuits. If you have comments about the Kyiv Post ban, please address them to letters@kyivpost.com and include your name, city of residence and contact telephone number for verification.
