Second Hand Clothes in Ukraine

During my walks around Lugansk I saw several second hand clothing shops. Several of these either displayed the British Union Flag outside or stated that the clothes were from the UK.
I went inside one such shop, and sure enough I found hundreds of garments bearing popular UK store labels. Some garments were in almost new condition, others not so.
I wondered about how these clothes found there way into the Ukraine at the time, but viewing a London newspaper today, I have one answer to this question:-

Thank you so much for posting this article. The Sally Ann was donating a lot of good clothing to me and I inturn gave it to a charity operating in Ukraine. Then the cost of shipping from across the pond became too expensive. I asked the lady who runs our Sally Ann what they do with the clothing now. It is given to a "recycler". Now I know what the recycling is all about!!! I was told the recycler turned it into rags!!
Now, friends and I just send new clothing, knitting etc.

p.s. I thought the government was outlawing second hand stores!!
