Yes, I agree and it surprises me that in the UK where employee protection in non existent for employees who have not completed one year of employment, and is less anyway than most other EU member states for employees in longer term service, that so many UK companies hire through temp staff agencies. In the past it was particularly prevalent in those industries that were subject to seasonal peaks and troughs. However, now in these uncertain times, hiring through temp agencies is becoming more of the norm. I read that BMW car works in Cowley, England recently terminated over 800 temp agency workers from the Mini car production line at one hours notice.
I am happy that in my retirement, I no longer have to worry about if I will have a job next month.
