Send Gifts to Ukraine

We recently found our family after over 40 years and would like to send gifts at Christmas or maybe some dollars. I Do you know how we would do that?

Send the gifts thru the post office. Packages from the USA can take up to 6 weeks but averages 3 weeks froim here. BUT you'll need to write the recieving address in cyrillic with Ukraine written in english.
IF you send money I'd suggest to start a seperate account in your name at your local bank and then get a debit card for them. Send it thru the mail and later on thru email or postal send the PIN number. They can withdraw it easily the the ATM's there. BUT notify the bank tht this card will be used overseas or they;ll shut it off. Best of all you can control it from your end.

Gotno Gizmo is an unknown quantity at this point
Based on my limited experience of the antiquated, unecessarily complex and expensive Ukraine bank systems and transaction fees involved, add to this that even greetings cards sent in the post to Ukraine from England have not arrived. My advice is that Western Union is the easier and cheaper option for all parties. If you've got the cash you buy almost everything you need in Ukraine, with a few anomolies like certain candy bars, or western peculiarities!

Looks like Western Union is the simplest way to send some $$$.

For parcels, I would opt for International Price Calculator (small parcels) or for Meest.us (large ones).

But all of these involve a much higher fee than using a debit card. I've used them all and for my situation with family a debit card is the cheapest long term way!
