And Bandera was a hero.

Wow,you people beg the EU to be invited into their house, and they do not honor nazi war criminals there,so it is their business....

if bandera is your "hero" and you're so proud of it,then why do you get all bent out of shape when people call you a "nazi"?

From what I just read about Bandera on Wikipedia I don't see how he was a hero to anyone. Maybe there are other sources that support this? IMO Victor Y. made a big mistake by nameing him as a hero. But the good side is that statues can be remelted and used for better things. Last year they took down the statue of Lenin in Cherkasy.

Please don't do that from reading one source that anyone can modify.

Disinformation on Ukraine's Freedom Fighters

Quote:
Moscow saw the Ukrainian nationalists as a dire threat and produced much Soviet propaganda blackening them especially Bandera who was accused of crimes against Ukrainians and Jews.

Wiki is usually a pretty good source of info. I did look thru the link cited first and an different one at that site. But I'll look your article over when I get some time. When it comes to dis-information there are many way to tell the truth. The Soviets had theirs, we had ours. Everyone has their own agenda all are suspect.

I looked thru your information and talked with my wife about Banderas.
I think that since history is wrtten by the victor and the views of the vanquished are forgotten... This explains the vast difference.
My wifes take on him is that he was doing what ever was needeed to have an indenendant Ukraine. Did he work both sides of the table? Probably. Did it work? Not back then, but Ukraine is independant now..

Was he a hero? That would depend on what side of the table you sit on!

Look at what is written about Bennidect Arnold in the USA and then find a source from Britan or Canada.
Very different takes on the same man and the same actions.
Heck, I have an ancestor that is honored by both sides of the American Revolution. Go try to figure that one out. He's buried in Canada so that tells me he chose to finish out his days there.
